Dear Sir or Madam, 

We have pleasure in sending you herewith a specimen copy of our-publication WAR COMMENTARY which we hope you will find time to read through carefully. 

In the midst of a welter of tendencious propaganda and a controlled press we feel it essential that a paper such as WAR COMMENTARY should exist. Our aims were simply defined in our first issue. We are not a political party striving for power. Our groups are composed of working men and intellectuals each anxious to see a world freed from the horrors of war; freed from injustice and poverty. All these problems in our opinion are directly linked up with the existing system of society.

You may not agree with all the opinions expressed in WAR COMMENTARY, and the perusal of one issue out of more than 20 that have been so far published cannot give you a complete picture of our ideas, yet may we suggest, if you are interested in progressive ideas, and in the building of a new and better world, that you become a regular reader of our paper and thus learn our point our view, on the everyday problems that face all of us? 

We would gladly send you further specimen copies, but owing to the high cost of production these days (and in the case of WAR COMMENTARY this is kept down to a minimum by reason of the fact that all our work is done by voluntary labour), we are unable to send more than one copy to each address on our lists. 

The subscription rates are as follows: 2/6 for six months and 5/- for one year. This rate is for a copy of WAR COMMENTARY at the beginning of each month and a copy of our WAR. COMMENTARY SUPPLEMENT which appears on the 15th of each month. Thus for 5d. a month we provide you with the equivalent of a book of 50 pages, containing interesting articles by a team of intelligent men and women inspired by one aim only: that of establishing the truth and making for a more human and equitable form of society in which Freedom will have real meaning.
