The Kate Sharpley Library contains books, pamphlets, newspapers and magazines, ephemera and manuscripts on anarchism from around the world in over twenty languages. Our physical location in Northern California is open to the public for research by appointment only.
English-language holdings are approximately 2,500 books and 4,000 pamphlets, as well newspapers, ephemera, and manuscript collections.
Our holdings are particularly strong on:
British anarchism from the nineteenth century onwards
North American anarchism from the nineteenth century onwards.
We also have substantial holdings in French, Spanish and Italian.
