A Note on the ‘Prehistory’ of the Kate Sharpley Library

Back in 1996 we reprinted Albert Meltzer’s article ‘Kate’s Tinwear’ in issue 6 of the bulletin. It was first published in Black Flag in May 1982. A footnote that we didn’t include said ‘A reading room/library called the Kate Sharpley Library is in the process of being set up at 121 Bookshop’. We could call 1979-1982 our ‘prehistory’ when what would later be called the Kate Sharpley Library was coming together. Might be celebrations in 2079 and in 2082?
